Baltimore Ravens Fullback Vonta Leach was recently featured in his hometown paper “The Robesonian” for his charitable work at the Walmart in Lumberton, NC where he met with several elementary and middle school students and their families to take part in ‘Shop with a Jock’ for Christmas.
Leach was happy to help out:
“I’m from Rowland and I know some of the challenges these kids must overcome to be successful,” he said. “I love coming home and helping out any way I can.”
The event was put on by the Vonta Leach Foundation, a foundation whose mission is to “create innovative programs that provide access to educational, recreational and healthy living initiatives designed to positively aid in the development of youth.”
“Seeing a child smile, that’s what makes my Christmas,” Leach said. “Football’s just a game. This kind of event is what’s really important to me and the Vonta Leach Foundation.”
