From ECU to the Super Bowl. 9 On Your Side sat down with Former East Carolina Pirate and Super Bowl Champion Vonta Leach.

Leach got his start in Southeastern North Carolina at Robeson High School, where he says great memories were made on the field.

“A lot of wins, not a whole lot of losses,” said Leach “ A football program that was a power house in the state of North Carolina for probably about ten years in the ropes. You know a lot of good football players have come through here.”

The high school has since named a strength complex after the Super Bowl champion. Leach says it’s the same facility he used when he went to school at Robeson High.

“What I was able to do once I finished pass assessing in the NFL I came back and redid the weight room for the guys,” said Leach. “New weight room, new benches and when I did that, they named the complex right after me.”
